I just wanted to update everyone with the latest bit of information!
I went ahead and signed up for 23anMe and my results came today.
I signed in to check things out. The results vary a good bit from what Ancestry predicts as far as regions, but the main thing that caught my eye was the DNA matches...FIRST cousins!!
Two of them! Whaaaaa...?
I messaged them both immediately, and my heart was racing when I had an immediate response.
B. Taylor, from Kokomo IN. He had always known his father's name but had never met him.
Most of you will remember the mystery...knowing that one of the Akers brothers was my father, but unable to determine WHICH one.
B's father? Guy! That means that John Akers is my biological father.
I am glad to finally know for CERTAIN...
John was killed in a hit and run accident in New York, November 1974, which is the same year that my mother took her life, in March.
